An online professional training for psychologists, counsellors, social workers, and allied health professionals who want practical tools to better support parents of children with challenging behaviours.
10, 11, and 12 November
Online
3-days of of evidence-based training
Designed for allied health professionals working with families
Why This Training?
Every day, practitioners sit with families who are at breaking point. Parents who have tried everything. Children who are stuck in cycles of defiance, aggression, or avoidance.

Traditional parenting strategies — rewards, consequences, sticker charts — can fall short. Families need something more.

This training introduces you to Relational Parenting, a practical framework also known as Non-Violent Resistance (NVR), that helps families move from chaos and conflict to
calm and connection.
What You’ll Gain
By the end of this training, you’ll be able to:

-
Introduce parents to a clear, structured framework for responding to behaviours that challenge.
-
Teach families how to reduce escalation and resistance without resorting to punishment or rewards.
-
Support parents to build calm presence and connection at the same time.
-
Confidently use evidence-based strategies that go beyond traditional parenting advice.
What we'll cover
1 / The Relational Parenting Framework
Learn the foundations of Relational Parenting, a structured approach traditionally known as in NVR, that balances love with limits. We’ll unpack why this shift can be so powerful, and how it helps families build lasting calm and connection.
2 / Authority and presence in practice
Explore how authority can be redefined in ways that foster respect rather than control. We’ll look at how practitioners can help parent/carers develop a confident, calm presence that holds the line without escalation.
3 / Non-Escalation and De-Escalation Tools
Discover specific strategies parent/carers can use to avoid getting pulled into power struggles. You’ll also learn practical de-escalation techniques that reduce conflict in the moment and strengthen long-term connection.
3 / Practical Strategies Families Can Use Right Away
From Caring Presence, to Loving Persistence, to Active Resistance, you’ll gain a toolkit of actionable strategies that parent/carers can start using immediately. These tools empower families to take small but powerful steps toward change.
4 / Case Studies and Scenarios
Apply the framework to real-world examples of families dealing with violence, anxious avoidance, or device dependence. You’ll see how the strategies play out in practice, making it easier to translate theory into action.
5 / Integrating Relational Parenting into Your Practice
Learn how to weave Relational Parenting principles into your existing therapeutic or support approach. We’ll cover ways to adapt the framework to fit your style while staying true to the evidence base.
